We celebrated my mom's birthday at Brennan's today. It was a terrific experience. Houston doesn't have many restaurants that function on this level of service. Chi was our primary server. The entire team on the floor today met every expectation. The food was very good. My only wish would be that the dress code "suggestion" was more enforced. Put people in sloppy casual clothes in their own room or simply turn them away. We will be back!
I had dinner at Brennan's a couple of weeks ago to celebrate a New Orleans tradition called Reveillon which is an old Creole custom of having a large meal on Christmas Eve to celebrate over. Since Brennan's is a New Orleans based restaurant they also celebrate it with a special price fixed 4 course menu with wine pairings for the first 3 courses for $125. Visiting this Brennan's offers valet and metered street parking if you choose. Inside there are several dining rooms including a room with a full bar. Immediately after ordering, a basket of warm and buttered French bread arrived to nosh on until shortly later the 1st course appeared. It was Ravigote De Crabe. Served on 3 slices of cornmeal crusted green tomato each piece was light and delicious with its ravigote sauce and those two small pickle spears were oh so good too. This start told me that I was in store for an excellent meal. The 2nd course was called Bisque De Langoustines and consisted of lobster meat in a lobster bisque served under a dome of puff pastry. Served hot and with a lot of lobster meat this dish tasted as good as it sounds. I loved it. The 3rd course (entree) was Terre Et Mer (or Surf and Turf for us Americans)! The tenderloin was tender, juicy and flavorful. The pecan crusted fish equally tasty. But to me the real hit of this course was the mound of sweet potato purée in the center. Smooth tasting and slightly sweet (of course) and with some pecan pieces in it makes me drool just thinking about it. The 4th and final course was a dessert called Tarte A La Bouillie which was a pie slice of sweet dough filled with vanilla custard and topped with blueberry sauce with a dollop of fresh whipped cream. Decadent, sweet, delicious, perfect. Do you think I liked it? The 3 3oz. wine pours paired well with the first 3 courses and all tasted very good and were enjoyed. Finally our servers were Samantha and Marco and they were prompt and professional in taking care of the table. This was an excellent meal and reminded me how great Creole cuisine can be when served at a fine restaurant like Brennan's. It's a piece of New Orleans that Houston is fortunate to have.
a big fan of this place - banana foster always at the end! The chefs special of the turtle soup, scallop risotto, and bread pudding was also lovely. The crab cake and pontchartrain was also swell from first bite. Very cordial staff Cheers!
There's palpable southern charm and hospitality dripping at the seams of Brennan's, and the throwback feel to an elegant time and place makes this a Houston institution. High end service and table setting are just the starting point for a trip here. We came during the holiday season and were plastered with Christmas bells, again adding to an authentic and homey experience. The food here has never not been fantastic. There's bread service that is almost impossible to put down. The turtle soup is a classic that you have to just believe in, and the fine dining twists on Cajun/Creole mainstays always hit the spot. So many desserts here are worth trying, and the table side bananas foster is a treat that has yet to grow old. If you have made the hike to the end of midtown, the best time is now.
This place was fantastic, just wow I had such a great time and experience. I would recommend everyone to go here for any occasion. My boyfriend and I decided to eat here on a whim to celebrate because I quit my job. We wanted to make the day special, so we chose to enjoy some good food and spend time together somewhere nice. - The ambiance was very upscale yet it felt toasty like home. - We had the best waiter I believe his name was Cameron. He recommended us great options and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. We also ordered the bananas foster which was a very cool, it's a whole presentation where they make the dessert in front of your table and it's got fire and all that jazz.
I decided to eat here the weekend after thanksgiving. Boy did i make a good decision. I ate The best Eggs Benedict ive ever had. 10/10. With some tasty turkey gumbo. My girlfriend ordered a black drum fish dish. It was spectacular. Delicious biscuits and cornbread. The service was impeccable. The ambiance was Charming :) We will definitely be back for more. Dont forget to order the Bananas Foster! Incredible Desert. Thank you Brennans of Houston! , I am pleased to have been a guest and enjoy wonderful a meal. -Santangelo Balli Gonzales
Brennan's of Houston is quite honestly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. As a foodie, to feel truly welcomed and taken care of in a restaurant is a treat, and our experience exceeded every expectation! Brennan's of Houston delivered an absolutely unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. Every detail, from the service to the food, was nothing short of perfection. As first-time guests, we were warmly welcomed with a special off-menu cucumber and crab bite, which set the tone for the evening. It was a delightful and thoughtful touch that showcased the restaurant's hospitality. The soup trio was an incredible way to sample their flavors, including the famous turtle soup, a rich and complex classic, along with the flavorful tortilla soup and hearty gumbo--all were enjoyed by the group. For our entrees, we chose the Gulf Fish Borgne and Crab and Shrimp Jennifer, both impeccably cooked and bursting with fresh, bold flavors. The sides of Brussels sprouts and cheese grits were perfect complements to the meal, with the cheese grits being a standout favorite. Dessert was a show in itself, with the iconic Bananas Foster flambéed tableside--delicious and entertaining! We also indulged in the bread pudding, beignets, and crème brûlée, all of which were decadent and beautifully presented. The 1 dollar martini were also great, delicious and strong to all of our liking. The combination of exquisite food, warm hospitality, and a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere makes Brennan's of Houston a must-visit. We left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to our next visit. Five stars, without a doubt!
I had the pleasure of dining at Brennan's, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The service was exceptional, with Cameron leading the way. He was personable, friendly, and a true embodiment of Houston's Southern hospitality. His recommendations were spot on, and we loved every dish he suggested--all plates were cleaned! The manager, Fred, also made a great impression, adding to the warm atmosphere. We felt right at home thanks to the attentive care from the entire staff, who even surprised us with complimentary dishes and drinks. Kudos to the chef for creating such delicious dishes that have us eager to return. We appreciated the personal touch from one of the owners, who came out to greet us and take pictures to commemorate our wonderful time. Dining at Brennan's is more than just about the food; it's the combination of fantastic cuisine, inviting ambiance, and outstanding service that made our experience a solid 10 out of 10. We can't wait to come back!
